Justice for Police Officers Injured On Duty
Disabled, vulnerable former police officers who were injured in the performance of their duty are facing gross injustice in regard to their pensions. Some police forces are determinedly flouting the law. They are bullying and threatening pensioners. They are demanding access to medical records from birth, which is unlawful. They are threatening to take away the pensions of those who do not comply. That too is unlawful. These abuses are only the tip of the iceberg.
Our campaign is to raise funds to allow expert solicitors to fight these injustices. We need to get the courts to order these rogue forces to comply with the law.
Haven Solictors’ legal victory over Merseyside Police, on this very issue, is being deliberately ignored. Staffordshire Police is trying to twist the law by saying that if a pensioner attends a medical examination arranged by the force but does not also give permission for the doctor to access medical records from birth then they will reduce the amount of pension paid – regardless of the individual’s medical condition. This is absurd.
We need to raise funds to start to fight the injustice.
Police forces can, and do, spend unlimited amounts of public money to attempt to defend their misconduct. Elderly, disabled former police officers on limited incomes can not afford to hire solicitors to help protect their pensions.

Donation made, and shared on social media. As there seems to be a lack of support from certain organisations to provide finance to rap these wrong doers on the knuckles, I guess we will have to raise the cash ourselves to pay for legal representation to bring them to book.
Some police forces think they are above the law. They hide under the pretence of saving public money and yet they are wasting tens if not hundreds of thousands defending their unlawful actions. This will help to prove that they are not above the law and will ultimately reduce the unnecessary waste of public money defending the indefensible. I applaud IODPA for what they stand for and are doing and ask everyone to support them with whatever they can spare.
Police Forces are nothing but a group of unelected individuals who have a position of authority and trust to ensure that the laws of the country are abided by.
Government makes the law, not the Police.
Interpretation of the law is the remit of the courts not the Police.
There are plenty of examples both past and present when that authority and trust is abused and those who are there to enforce the law begin to twist and manipulate the law to suit their own purpose.
The regulations make no mention whatsoever of medical records. None at all.
Certain individuals in the Police are abusing their position of authority and trust and attempting to make up their own regulations. They wrongly believe that there is no one able to stop them.
This excellent crowd funding for legal costs will enable those affected by these unlawful reassessments and unlawful demands to challenge them in the courts.

Police Forces have access to all the medical records on initially joining ( also they are medically examined as part of the enlisting process/ force doctor )
IOD should be asking to examine those force medical records.
Hi David. You might be surprised that they don’t. Frequently they are lost or destroyed. Often they were never obtained on recruitment. Notwithstanding the matters touched on a review means its unlawful for refer to them (to do so is a fresh assessment denied to them by Met v Laws 2010), rather than admit they’ve lost them they try to get them back. Always worth submitting a subject access request. Remember once retired the police force has no legal authority to process and even RETAIN these medical records. They belong at your GP practice alone. It is nonsensical to allow them to perform an unlawful review and trust them with personal and sensitive documents they’ve already lost before
I hope that those at Federation HQ that keep refusing funding for IODS can sleep at night, or more likely sleep on the millions they have in funds.
I am appalled by their attitude and disloyalty to injured officers, beware those that are still serving this is what awaits you from the federation!
Long live IODPA a true giant in a swamp of predators.
This is fantastic, I think I speak for most when I say it’s great to finally have a voice and a body we can get genuine and reliable advice from and now this, it’s wonderful news.
Hopefully this is the start of iodpa making the playing field even against these unlawful decisions being made by disrespectful forces up and down the UK. Well done!
Please send a copy of the press release to the Public Accounts Committee. This needs thoroughly investigated. Name and shame them.
A brilliant idea.
However, those who have committed the miscarriages of justice by breaking laws and bringing us to this point, should be punished.
At least now their wrongdoings shall be brought to ever widening audiences!
