Thoroughly enjoyed listening to podcasts. Looking forward to the remainder. Pity this was not available years ago because there must be hundreds of forcibly retired Police Officers who were made to leave without any form of explanation anywhere near as clear and concise as these presented by Ms Broadfoot and Mr Lock. Police Federation, NARPO and Chief Constables – please take note!!

Thank you to David and Samantha, and the editor of the podcasts. I have just listened to both parts and these are very informative and easy to understand. I cant tell you how much that these provide a comfort and understanding of the Pension Laws and regulations. I am really looking forward to further podcasts.

I do hope that forces and federations have a listen, and learn something,

Once again, thank you David and Samantha for providing your very precious time and expertise in this field.

Thank you for taking the time to explain things so clearly and professionally. This set of regulations and rules are difficult for some to understand and when you are injured and retired they are not explained to the officer by anyone.
Thank you for your explanations which make it a lot clearer.

These podcasts have been brilliant to listen to. Vey nicely laid out. Thank you for your time and effort in doing these.. I have been an IOD since 1992 and never heard the regulations explained so clearly in all that time!

Hopefully SMPs and Chief Constables will spare the time to listen to them! They may very well learn something!

Very well explained and easily understood. I wish that PPA’s, SMP’s and anyone in admin of every Police force in the country should be made to listen to these podcasts instead of making it up as they go along. For too long now Police officers have been bamboozled at best, and downright lied to at worst. The legislation is not straightforward, but a common sense approach is what is needed. QC’s at their very best.

    Hi DAVID and SAMANTHA
Thank you for a clear and concise outline to the ever evolving area of police pension law. Your thoughts and interpretations of what can be a manifestly daunting and often one sided experience are very much appreciated by those affected, no doubt this will also be a learning process for all others involved including legal advocates, PPA, SMP/PMAB, GMC and FOM, oh and lets not forget the authors of guidance and the NWEF from the far north who produce the worst porridge I’ve tasted!

Excellent podcasts regarding a potentially complex subject, made simple to understand. I very much appreciate the efforts of QC’s David and Samantha to break this subject down, making understanding more accessible for us, all regardless of our Individual current circumstances. Thank you – as always, knowledge is power.

Just listened to part two. David and Samantha have achieved the impossible – they explained the 1987, 2006 and 2015 police pension schemes so clearly that I, for the first time, could understand them.

Thank you both, and your editor, for part one and two. Much appreciated.

I look forward to part three, on injury pensions!

Thank you David and Samantha for sharing your knowledge and wisdom regarding the law in this area through this medium.

It’s key listening and reading for every serving Police Officer, and for every unfortunately injured, or ill officer facing an uncertain future.

For those of us already retired and in receipt of a pension, especially those on an Injury On Duty pension, it’s crucial that we listen to and then not only understand the law, but also the scale of ‘opposition’ against us in our fight for our rightful pensions.

The series of podcasts should be compulsory listening for the Home Office, all Chief Constables, who are also Police Pension Authorities(PPA’s), SMP’s/FME’s, HR/OH staff, or any other person dealing with police pensions. This applies particularly to ‘experts’ in Staffs, Northumbria, or any other force where an aggressive approach is being taken.

Already in podcast one, David and Samantha have highlighted the glaringly obvious conflict of interest ‘re being a Chief Constable managing a force budget and a PPA supposedly putting the needs & rights of their retired officers first. It’s no surprise to see that as all pensions other than IOD pensions are paid direct from HO grants, that the current conflicts arise only in IOD’s, where cash means more than people.

I look forward to hearing and learning more as the podcasts arrive and then trying to get that message across to as many officers, serving, or retired, so they are fully aware of their rights.
