The Daily has today run an article about the Staffordshire Police judicial reviews which is due to be heard at Birmingham Administrative Court today and Thursday.
It summarises the situation regarding injury reviews very well, highlighting the unjust process and how forces are conducting reviews for no other reason than to save money.
We wish the pensioners affected by this court hearing only one thing – justice!

It’s a sad time when ex police officers injured on duty have to fight for what they are without any shame or redress entitled to.. Me for one.. Okay you now believe chief constable that I’m no longer disabled to the degree ( probably agreed at the time and calculations far from accurate) that I was for want of better word put out to pasture.. Where’s the offer of re enstatement or alternative employment within the organisation you run… Yep.. Thought so.. Same place as your morale compass.. Both do not exist.
Good luck to all those involved. Lets hope the likes of Morgan, Wirz, and the HR bods doing their bidding get their comeuppance very soon….

Sarah, the judge reserved judgement, which means that the decision will be announced at at later date. It could be a number of weeks, or even months before we hear the result.
Really good article and nicely timed regarding the JR. The public should know how badly the people who look after them are treated should they be injured on duty. Let justice be done.
The very best wishes to all who stand up against the likes of cc Morgan, let’s hope this judicial review and forthcoming employment tribunal ends this cruel tyranny and spiteful hated being dealt out by ccs, which hopefully will clarify what the regulations are there for, it will restrict forces from interpretating them to suit aggressive reviews the likes of Morgan and his cohorts conduct.. I hope justice will prevail.
Which a way do Police forces want it? You pass interviews, pass the medical and fitness test and sign an employment contract which includes terms and conditions of employment, part of which contains injuries sustained on duty and what arises from that should have retire from the Police as a result of those injuries. There is a medical process to follow to reach the decision to be medically retired and the officer has no control over that decision. I did not join the Police with the idea of intentionally getting injured, it is part of dealing with the duties that are expected of you and you do it to the best of your ability, with fear or favour.
Where an unsuccessful challenge is made regarding an Officers medical condition and an attempt to reduce their pension, compensation should be paid directly to that officer for any unnecessary alarm and distress has been caused by the challenging force. This may stop any vexatious reviews from over proactive Senior Officers attempting to save money, and furthermore the whole decision regarding medical reviews should be taken away from forces and put into a balanced arbitrary body.
Good luck to those Staffs officers with their JR today and tomorrow. We all have our fingers crossed for you and the results you deserve.
